Junior Achievement

We were delighted to have Yaneth come to visit us today.
Our story was all about gardening which was very suitable since we were gardening with Kay on Monday and were planting daffodil bulbs today.

Dina school

We had Dina school in our class today.
Wally and Dina came to visit.
Dina is an old dinosaur who is the principal of Dina school.
Wally is a fun boy who joins us for this class.
We have fun practising our golden rules and being on the green patrol.
We also really enjoy our friendship song.

A visit to the bottle bank

We went to visit the Bottle Bank adjacent to our school today, as we have been learning all about recycling in class. Teacher brought some items for recycling and we had to help her to put them into the correct bin. Teacher said that we are VERY clever indeed!! We saw that there was a separate bin for white, brown and clear glass. We also saw the clothing bank and read the items they would like us to put into it and also the items that they don't want.We are taking great care in class to re-cycle all the items we can.

When I was a baby.....

We have been talking about when we were a baby. Our parents had to tell us about the day we were born, and then we told the class about it. We brought in our baby pictures to show to the class and we also brought in any baby clothes and toys we had since we were a baby. We loved listening to each other and seeing the toys our classmates played with as a baby.

Recycling bins

We went to visit the recycling bins outside the Kingfisher club.
Now we know where to put the old bottles, old jars and old clothes that we no longer use.
We think that recycling is great for the environment.

Visit from Hewlett Packard

We have a mammy in our class who works with Hewlett Packard.
She works in quality control and today she was explaining all about her job.
It sounds really interesting.
Dee uses technology in her job every day.
Her company makes computers, and printers and apps for phones and computers.
Today she brought us in some really interesting products that are made by HP (along with some cool pens, highlighters, luggage labels, notebooks, voice recorder and coffee mug for teacher!....wonderful souvenirs, thank you!)
HP makes some products that allow you to talk into a voice recorder, then have your recording typed automatically by the computer.  Wouldn't that save teachers (and secretaries so much work)?  HP even have a product that allows you to speak directly into headphones and have your voice recognized by the computer and your typing done automatically!  We love the sound of this!
Dee showed us the work she does in HP.  It involves checking each product before it leaves the factory to make sure that nothing is missing from each box they sell.  We can see how useful the highlighters are for this job!
Thank you so much Dee for your wonderful talk and to you and HP for the lovely souvenirs you gave us today.  Thumbs up from all of us.  We can't wait to start recording our own voices!
