Toy time line

Thursday, October 1st, 2009
In our history lesson we have been talking about life now and long ago. We used the interactive whiteboard to travel through time and see a house from Victorian times. We also saw teddies, dolls and cars from different times. We looked at boats, trains and aeroplanes from different times too. Teacher showed us lots of toys that our grandparents might have played with. For homework we were asked to bring in toys that we played with as babies, and toys that we still play with. We saw books and a CD that someone used as a baby and lots of interesting toys that we still use. Lastly we saw an amazing dinosaur that was made from lego today - a new toy showing an animal that lived a very long time ago!

Our Baby Things

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009
Senior Infants, Room 5
We have been talking about how grown up we are getting. We tried to remember when we were babies. We asked our families about when we were born - how heavy we were, what time we were born, what we used to wear when we were young, and what we used to play with. We brought baby photos and some of our baby things in to school. Teacher hung our photos on the wall, and put our baby clothes on a clothes line in the class. It's amazing how quickly we have grown to the sizes we are now.

Africa Week

Last week was Africa week. We went to the hall to see Ms. Tierney's Junior lnfant class show us a play about a day in the life of Uganda. It was so interesting. We even got to see some Ugandan dolls made from banana fibres and a ball, also made from banana fibres. In our class we are doing lots of things relating to Africa - we are painting masks, colouring an African village scene, hearing African stories and learning about some African countries. We also watched a really interesting video called Kirikou, about a small child in Africa.

Different Kinds of Houses

On Friday the weather was lovely so the Senior Infants from Room 5 went for a walk to the beach. We dug holes, looked at marine life, and played in the sand. On the way back to school we had a good look at the various types of houses we could find. We saw bungalows, two story houses and three story houses. We saw apartments. We saw houses that are detached, semi-detached, and terraced. We even saw a thatched house. There is a huge variety of houses in Renmore. Here are some of the houses we saw. Can you figure out which is which?
